I just ordered 31 new chicks!! Well, maybe 32...not sure. That kicks it up to 37 or 38 total!! But we're only keeping 12. The rest are Americauna's that we'll raise for my grandpa. I'm so psyched about it!!! Check back later; I'll post tons of pics on this blog and my new one: http://itsachickenthing.blogspot.com/. TTYL!!

I had the same thing happen to me this week. I ordered chicks from McMurray and they are coming in April. However, I went to the local farm store and they had brooders full of chicks and it was all I could do to not buy the four white silkies! Now I wish I had. They're gone! Oh well, like you said, maybe another time. I'll keep track of your chick picks!
Well, good luck with them! I can hardly ever resist chicks wherever they are!! I love Silkies. We have a rooster and a hen that are just gorgeous! I hope to show them in the fair this year. Thanks for checkin' out my blog! I have duckling pics on my blog http://itsachickenthing.blogspot.com/.
I am head over heels in love with silkies! I have got to have some of them. The picture you have of the white ones is about the best photo I have seen of them. I think they will be the blue ribbon winner at your fair! Do you have any other silkies? I may end up raising several varieties just to have them!
They are a very fun and beautiful breed. Thank you very much! It's been really rainy lately, so they're pretty muddy at the moment, but my sister gives her hen baths sometimes! We don't have any other Silkies as of now, but we used to have a black pair. We think they might have been part mutts, because they weren't as fluffy. Plus, we got them for cheap at a farmer's market! I think there's a picture of the rooster on the computer. If I find it, I'll try to post it! I want to get more this year, and we would have, but McMurray doesn't gender bantams, and we only want hens.
You sound like you're having such a great time with your chickens! I think it's going to be hard for me to not have thousands of them!
They really are fun to have. I have to stop myself from buying every chick I come across!
