Chicken Coop

Seven nesting boxes line one wall. The hen nesting is a Rhode Island Red, Butterscotch, and the Polish is Bethany the one-winged chicken!
The other Polish, Whoopi, is eating from our hanging feeder.
Our White Rock rooster, Cole, had to be separated from Bruiser and Fabio (for their sake...) and the hens, because he's so huge. But he's as gentle as can be.......just big.

Nice coop! Your chickens look like a bunch of happy campers. What kind of feed do you give them?

Thank you! They're usually pretty happy, but always hungry! We feed them layer feed from the Co-op, and when I remember, I give them some scratch (which is mostly cracked corn).

How often do you give them scratch? I just read that you should give them scratch during winter when they can get cabin fever, but then stop during the warm/hot months as it makes them work too hard.

About every other day, but only a limited amount (they could eat the whole trash can full if I didn't stop them!). Really? I've never heard that. We just started feeding sratch last fall, so we may stop when summer comes!

Hey, I saw your question about ducks and I found this site and thought it had good info. Take a look! I have a former student who wants to buy some baby ducks and then give them to me when they get big. I told her "sure!" Uh-oh! What am I getting into now?

Thank you! I got good information from that page.
Hahaha! That sounds like something my family would do! Not raise the ducks and give them away, but take them in!!! If you have any questions, I might have some answers....maybe.
